Trunk Club review #3

This Trunk actually came because I was returning an item from the last Trunk and knew it would be easier to send them back this way. But I do enjoy opening up a subscription clothing box and trying on stuff. I knew this one I would only get items that were a really good deal and I needed.

So let’s dive in, shall we? And if you decide to try it, use my link and you’ll get a $50 credit when you make your first purchase!

TRUNK CLUB REVIEW

Trunk Club is Nordstrom’s online styling service and it works similarly to other clothing subscription boxes. I actually like this concept because you know you’re getting high-quality clothes from Nordstrom. You fill out a style profile and if you’re looking for any particular items of clothing. Then you’re assigned a stylist and (here’s the best part) they will send you a preview of what they picked out before it sends to you. That way you can look over everything and remove anything you don’t like or is too expensive and can even replace them with other items. Just like other subscriptions, you keep what you like and mail back what you don’t. Another awesome perk is that I can have UPS come and pick up the box from my front door when I check out versus having to drive it to the post office. Definitely important right now when I’m trying to avoid going anywhere.

There’s a $25 styling fee that gets applied to whatever you decide to keep in the box. Apparently, Nordstrom credit cardholders get this fee waived.

On to the clothes!

7 For All Mankind High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans ($119)

Ah, I long for the days I can wear white pants again. Actually, scratch that. White pants and Risa aren’t a good mix because even without kids, I’m pretty clumsy. And for $120, those white pants better repel stains like magic. So… cute pants. Not for me.

Trunk Club review #3

Verdict: Returned

Sanctuary Keepers Stripe Boyfriend Shirt ($79)

The boyfriend shirt on the other hand, now this was a good one. I love cardigans, but don’t have a lot of other you know, non-cardigany things I can slip on besides hoodies, but I should probably be an adult at some point and have something else besides zip-up hooded sweatshirts.

Enter the boyfriend shirt. I love it. I loved how I could roll the sleeves up and can wear it buttoned up or opened. And I loved the color on me. I could put my $25 styling fee toward it, which made it more like $55, but then when I went to check out, I saw it was actually on sale for 40% off and only paid around $22. Mic drop.

Trunk Club review #3

Verdict: Kept

Halogen Straight Leg Trousers ($31.60)

I sort of regret not keeping these since the price was pretty great. But they were dressier pants. The ones I would have worn going into the office as an RN Case manager and not the sloppy sweatpants-wearing freelance writer who works out of her basement thank you very much. Damn it, I should have kept them because they were still at least comfortable, but alas I didn’t.

Trunk Club review #3

Verdict: Returned (with some regret)

Soludos Lyon Ankle Wrap Wedge Espadrille ($95) + Seychelles Plateau Ankle Strap Pointed Toe Flat ($100)

Let’s just get the pointed toe flats out of the way first. These were not good on me. They were uncomfortable. My feet look weird in points. The wedges were a little better, a little more comfortable, but yall I am hopeless at fashion and couldn’t figure out how to tie the damn things and gave up.

Verdict: Both returned

Halogen Sleeveless V-Neck Top ($49)

Oh, I liked this one. A lot. I went back and forth on keeping it or not, but in the end, I didn’t. I was hoping when I went to check out, it would be on sale, but it wasn’t. I knew I’d get more use out of the boyfriend shirt above this winter, so I had to (regrettably) return this back.

Trunk Club review #3

Verdict: Returned

Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B. Nylon Swing Crossbody Bag ($148) + Quay Australia Incognito 56mm Gradient Flat Top Sunglasses ($65)

I loved this purse as soon as I pulled it out of the box. It’s on the smaller side, so it would be great for shopping or a night out. But… $148 for a small plain black crossbody? Are you nuts? I don’t know who Rebecca Minkoff is, but someone should tell her that’s sort of ridiculous.

And now let’s talk about these sunglasses. I ended up returning the ones I got in my last Trunk because while I liked them, I realized they made lines on my cheeks. These Incognito ones don’t, but they were so big and heavy, they actually slid down my nose. Why, please tell me why women’s sunglasses are so garish and comically large? Why? I want to know. Because 90% of the sunglasses I see and try on are shuddering awful or perhaps I really just have a terrible sense of style. Needless to say, these both went back.

Verdict: Both returned

CeCe Ruffle Sleeve Crepe Blouse ($34.50)

I lked the color of this blouse and I don’t have this color in anything in my closet, but the sleeves weren’t doing anything for me, and it was probably a little too small given that I look like I’m about to pop some buttons. It was silky, and I liked that, but yeah. No.

Verdict: Returned

Caslon Mixed Media Drop Waist Maxi Dress ($69)

So this dress was a great color and length, but I wasn’t digging the ruffles on the bottom. Everything else about it I loved.

Verdict: Returned

I also got another dress that’s not pictured, and that’s because I had no freaking clue how to wear it. It was the Lulus Remi Floral Chiffon Wrap Dress ($64). Cute, but you didn’t actually put it over your head. It wrapped up like a bathrobe only I couldn’t figure out how in the world to tie it so I wasn’t hanging out everywhere. It was by far the strangest item of clothing I’ve ever worn.

But I got a cute boyfriend shirt out of this Trunk for a steal. That alone was worth it. Want to try out Trunk Club? I’d love it if you’d sign up under my link and you’ll get a $50 credit when you go check out from your first trunk (I will too!)

That boyfriend shirt is super cute! Now I want to get it! Those sunglasses are ridiculous- they look like Blueblockers (remember those?). 🙂

I love it! I’ve worn it a few times now! And yes! Seriously. I don’t get it, but I’ve never been trendy with my sunglasses. ;D
