#Microblog Mondays: Tale As Old As Time

I was five years old when my dad took me to the movie theater for the first time to see Beauty and the Beast. It has remained to be one of my favorite Disney movies.

Chris and I had our monthly date night Saturday and my parents came to watch Olivia. We had planned on seeing the 4:15 show because a) we are cheap, b) we are old, and c) we had stuffed ourselves with Panchero’s*** burritos for lunch, so were planning on eating later, after the movie.

Turns out, it was sold out, so we bitched quietly to ourselves and forked over the evening rate for the 7:00 show that night. We headed to Target for some deodorant and tampons, (because who doesn’t kill time like that on a date?) and drove to the hibachi restaurant for dinner. We had received a diner’s club card from a friend who didn’t want it, and had to spend $50 (not including drinks) to get $25 off our bill. We got some happy hour drinks and calculated all the food we’d have to get to make it to the $50. A pork dumpling app, a spring roll app, a $15 plate of incredible sushi, two entrees (sesame chicken, thank you very much), rice with yum yum sauce, side salads, and a take home container of rice later, we had made our quota. If it’s one thing Chris and I can do, it’s eat a lot.

To be fair, we each took home 3/4 of our entrees and had delicious leftovers last night.

The theater was packed and we barely were able to find seats after two teenagers threw their purses into the two seats in front of them as we approached, clearly telling us that at some point their two other loserย late friends will be sitting there. We finally found seats together in the first row right before you get to the head-craning section.

You guys, Beauty and the Beast was fantastic. Hermioneย Emma Watson was incredible. This article I found sums up her role nicely (some slight spoilers, though). The songs were just as I remembered from the original Disney version. I loved it. I want to see it again. I kept waiting for that so-called gay agenda scene, but never found it. So poo on the haters.

After my parents were home (no late night partying for us, we were back by 9:30), we ate the cupcakes we got at a cupcake shop before the movie, watched some comedy acts on Netflix, I pumped, and we went to bed. And it was a perfect night.

***Let me say, Panchero’s is way better than Chipotle and probably best known for making their tortillas right at the time of order. There aren’t many of them, and I think people are quick to dismiss them in favor of the popular, but highly overrated Chipotle. You want to know the one simple thing they do that makes them better than Chipotle with their burritos, besides the better tortillas? They mix the toppings up before they fold the burrito. The worst thing about a Chipotle burrito is the fact that when you bite into it, you get a mouthful of rice—albeit tasty rice, but straight up rice nonetheless— and then a mouthful of meat. Seriously. Mixing the toppings together? Makes all the difference. Plus they have great chips and queso.

Outside of the snotty teenagers and the frustration of not getting to the showing you wanted, sounds like it was a wonderful date! I loved Beauty and the Beast too (though I was 13 yrs old when it came out … that should date me) and wish the magic of animation still existed on that level.

It was definitely a wonderful date! That one, and Lion King were hands down the most magical. It’s too bad we won’t see movies made like that anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the CGI, but there is something so simple about animation.

What a perfect date night, even with the small hiccups! I was totally psyched when I saw the first trailer for Beauty – hoping hubby & I can catch it in the very near future.

You must. It’s amazing. And yes, it’s so refreshing to get out alone.

I saw the original Beauty and the Beast my senior year of high school! I’m old. I can’t wait to see the new one. I’m a fan of Chipotle, so I’m sure I would love Panchero’s even more!

Ha ha! So funny. ๐Ÿ™‚ Don’t get me wrong, the chicken tacos at Chipotle have my heart… but Panchero’s has better burritos. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sounds like a fabulous evening! And, yes, Target has made its way into our date night more than once. ๐Ÿ˜‰ There’s a Panchero’s near where we used to live. I’m trying to remember if we went there. I guess we all get stuck in our ruts.
