Santa and other December fun

A local shop owner we know put on a day of Santa, so people could come and get their pictures taken. It was a great way to see Santa without the lines and chaos. Emelia was having none of it, and kept her face buried the entire time. Austin was pretty chill and Olivia just enjoyed herself.

Both of them told Santa and Mrs. Claus what they wanted for Christmas (Harry Potter Legos and a Minnie Mouse stuffy), and then we walked around downtown a bit because it was so nice out. Of course, the kids convinced us to get ice cream beforehand, and hey, why not get ice cream in December?

A few days later, Austin got his stocking in the mail from his grandma. We all have one, and now we can add a fifth to the fireplace this year.

On December 9th, Chris and I took the girls to Disney on Ice. He had gotten tickets for free from a friend who works for the company and generously gave them to us. It was so much fun getting to spend that time with them. Of course we had to buy the popcorn buckets and glow wands and the girls were so excited.

Emelia completely lost it when Encanto came out because she wasn’t sure if they would be there. She had worn her Mirabel dress and everything.

Honestly, even for an adult, Disney knows how to put on a good ice show. Chris and I genuinely enjoyed it too.

Mid-month, was holiday concert season, starting with Olivia’s. After their concert, Olivia and the other kids performed their play, A Christmas Carol. They’ve been working hard on it all school year. Olivia was Mrs. Cratchet and she was especially excited to get to hold props.

It was so cute. These kids. Olivia did a great job projecting her voice. She has a loud voice, trust me, she knows how to use it at home, but I wasn’t sure how she would be during her play. Especially since her teacher said she needed to speak up more. But she did a great job and seemed really calm up there. I was on the sidelines, recording it, and her teacher was standing next to me laughing.

“Is Olivia mouthing everyone’s lines?” Yes, sure enough, she was.

She’s already hoping they do another play in the spring.

Emelia’s was the next night. They had told us the kids needed to bring a scarf to perform in, so I ended up crocheting one for her and OMG she looks so cute. I was so proud of her for performing and doing the motions. Oh, it was just so cute watching them.

We went out after to Dairy Queen with my parents, so they could spend their gift cards they got from my friend for their birthdays. Christmas is coming soon!
