“Right Now” January 2020

Right Now

Reading:  Michelle Obama’s Becoming. I’ve been reading this on my Nook since my transfer in February of last year. Perhaps this year I’ll finish it? I’m also reading a parenting book called 1,2,3 Magic. Olivia has no idea what’s coming.

Watching: I’ve been going through the episodes of Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix. Olivia’s been joining me periodically.

Listening: To entirely too much Frozen 2, Turtle Power, and Mickey Mouse singalong songs.

Drinking: Calypso green tea! From a little iron teacup.

Eating: I’ve been digging vanilla Greek yogurt, frozen berries, and granola for a bedtime snack.

Wearing: Surprise! A black nursing tank top and black lounge pants. Sans bra. Fuzzy slippers. My standards have appeared to sink even lower since having Emelia.

Loving: My evenings with Chris again now that Emelia goes to bed at the same time as Olivia. It’s a little stressful some nights with two kids, but Emelia is obviously much happier being able to go to sleep instead of screaming the whole evening.

Anticipating: My Stitch Fix box coming this week. I’ve never done it before, but I’m looking forward to finding an outfit I feel confident in for our Valentine’s Day date.

Following: My list of 101 in 1001 to be able to knock out some of them in January.

Trying: To get the motivation to get back into strength training. My knees have been hurting and I know I need to strengthen my quads. I need to strengthen my whole body actually.

Planning: To wipe down, organize, and actually start using the new-to-us desk hutch in our kitchen. It’s perfect for a laptop, but I’ve been so lazy to actually clean it up and utilize it.

Contemplating: Trying out an Instant Pot lasagna recipe sometime in the next few weeks. If you have a good one you’ve tried, drop it in the comments. It’s so hard trying to find a good one that works, so I love recommendations!

Celebrating: The fact that I am blogging more. It’s been a much-needed break for my creativity from freelancing. I love doing interviews and journalistic pieces, but it’s been nice to just be able to write on my own blog.

Subscribing: Chris and I decided to take the plunge and do an annual Walmart grocery delivery service. Grocery shopping with Olivia wasn’t a big deal, or else I did it while she was in daycare. Now that there’s an infant involved, who sits in a very big car seat, there’s no room for a lot of groceries while out if her car seat is in there, and going on the weekends doesn’t appeal to me. So we’re going to be very First World for a year and try out the delivery service. I’ve already done my two-week free trial and am loving it. Plus, I can get diapers and wipes and any toiletries I need. I never need to go shopping again!!!!

Thank you! We have two of them and they’re ridiculously small but it’s fun to sip from them every once in awhile. 😉

Ordering groceries online and just picking them up has been amazing!! BUT you getting them delivered is even better!! They don’t deliver to our area boo. haha Stitch Fix is soooo much fun!! I don’t like to go shopping for clothes and with this you get stuff delivered and it’s in style! Can’t wait to see how it goes!

Agree. And I was going back and forth if I should continue the pick up or go all in for delivery. And not leaving the house with two kids won out. 😉 And it is! I have a box coming for both Olivia and Chris as well. I’m a freak. It’s been so much fun!

Yay, I love that you’re doing Loribeth’s Right Now series too. I do it periodically (on A Separate Life), and actually have one ready to go. I was struck by our similarities – I’m reading Michelle Obama’s Becoming now too. It has to go back to the library tomorrow because I didn’t read it fast enough, and there’s a long waitlist at the library so I think I might have to buy it!

I’m also a Grey’s fan, though streamed the last series, so now I’m waiting for the next. And yes to the strength exercises with sore knees. I started on them yesterday!

Becoming is really good! I think I just hit a lull when she was talking about campaigning and I was reading other books as well and, yeah, it’s taking a lot longer than I was thinking to finish…and I’m a fast reader. And good for you! I’m sick of the pain. It’s awkward. It’s embarrassing. So I need to keep pushing myself to do something about it.

Oooh, my stitch fix box is coming this week too! Although it’s not my first, it’s my (insert crazy number here) box because I’ve been doing it for years. The feedback really is important, and finding a stylist you click with. I have Becoming on my next-to-read list, it was a gift from my mom. Your cup and saucer are so pretty! And ugh, strengthening quads for knees… Yup. Those pesky knees! I hope your lasagna goes well! I feel like the last person without an Instapot. It seems like a miracle machine!

Fun! I love that you’ve been doing it for so long. How many items do you think you’ve kept? And the Instant Pot… so amazing. I highly recommend it.

Frozen II is also on repeat at our house (although Wes likes the first one better). We did a grocery pickup almost every week last year because it made it much easier than spending an hour grocery shopping but now that the kids are older they often want to go and help CP shop.

Surprisingly…I don’t hate it. Yes, I’m loving the grocery delivery. I loved the pick up too, but if I couldn’t coordinate with something else, it was a pain loading up everyone in the car to go. Plus, I swear I make more meals at home now because I used to procrastinate on getting groceries.

Joining everyone else in exclaiming how pretty that tea cup is – really lovely!

Grocery delivery sounds wonderful. We do the pick up (which is mostly saving our sanity right now) but delivery sounds even better.

Hear you about the books that wind up about 1/2 way on the e-reader – it’s a thing. I think there are a couple I’ve been sort of in the middle of for about 18 months or so.

Aw thank you! Delivery is definitely better, I’m not going to lie. But pickup is free, so there is that.
