#Microblog Mondays: Overwhelmed

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

You want to hear something funny? I’m more busy now than I ever was when I worked full time. I spent four months at home before I got pregnant and that wasn’t bad. I still wrote for mom.me and still worked casual at my job. But now it’s like I have this ever-growing to-do list, which I like (sort of) because there is always something to do to keep me from getting bored. But now I am juggling too much and it’s getting overwhelming. I am writing for mom.me, and I’m freelancing for a donor egg site and now just took on freelance work for an up and coming fertility site (squee!) and being that I can only write while Olivia sleeps, it doesn’t leave a lot of time. I’m planning her first birthday party with 90 people invited, and I (try in vain) to keep up with this blog (which I feel like I’m failing at) and am also needing to put in hours for the new site coming in January. Plus, commenting and reading blogs because that’s still so important to me. (They seriously need to figure out this issue of being unable to comment from your phone.)

It’s a lot. Because I also have a perpetually messy house that I need to keep putting effort into cleaning. Not to mention the daily care that goes into nurturing and keeping alive an almost 11 month old.

I’ve been meaning to buy this download from PaperScribblesCo because I think it will help me get more organized. But… clearly I haven’t done that yet.

I know I am a little unique being that I’m technically a stay-at-home-mom, but also working from home. Without child care. If we could afford it, I would totally have her in daycare a few hours a day or have a nanny in our house, but it’s just not in the cards for us.

So. Here I sit, writing about all the things I need to do instead of actually… doing them.

You wrote 8 blog posts last month. You are not failing at keeping up here. It might not be as much as you want to write, but you are still at least keeping us entertained (seriously, you never fail to make me at least chuckle at something). As a sahm, I can't imagine trying to throw in working from home! It's impossible to get things done if they are awake, and sometimes they don't cooperate with naps!

Given that I don't have nearly as much to do, but missed an appointment this morning (albeit a coffee date with a friend), maybe I need that app too!

It is hard to be a work from home mom. BabyFirst was a wonderful thing where she would watch tv. Also her floor mat. Good luck!

You are not failing. But thank you for sharing.

    1) You're doing better at keeping up with your blog than I am… so that's something
    2) Freelancing for up and coming fertility site… tell me more… 🙂
    3) Try a bullet journal! Best thing ever, and you don't actually need to buy one, you can use any old journal (or you can get overwhelmed with all the fancy people on instagram who turn theirs into art projects, but honestly, I made mine from a target notebook and it's literally just pen to paper, no doodles). It makes life so much easier when you're juggling a million to-do lists!

Lady, that is a lot. I think you're handling it all very well, especially without any child care.

Books work wonder for distracting the Beats so I could catch up on work. I use to surround them with a pile and sit back while they flipped through and swapped. Training them to play on there own is still an ongoing process (cooking dinners is now a semi-dangerous endeavor due to their interest), but there has been a benefit of getting some time to myself. PBS is usually the next step if all else fails.

Just watching after Olivia is a full time job I imagine because it is at our house after work and on the weekends for me. I have no idea how you have time to do any of this that you listed so big time kudos to you mama!! (also save yourself a couple of minutes and don't reply to this! I know you'll read it. haha)

I work from home only part time (and from an office the other part). Before the birth of my second, I was considering a 100% from home position, but I don't think I could deal with it. It is SO HARD to balance kid/ kids and work, if there is no child care especially. Good luck trying to balance it all!

Wow this is so crazy! Like, whoever came up with this??? I may need this in my life.

I am impressed with how well you are keeping up on blogging and commenting- you inspire me! I don't think I would get anything done if I stayed at home, so I'm impressed at all you manage!!

Oh, I get this so well. It was so hard to work at home while they were little. Especially because I didn't want to work while they were awake. It meant very little sleep.

Welcome to motherhood? 😀 I too feel more than busy, but most often too lazy to do anything about most of it. Haha

90 people at a birthday party! Whoa!

I have no idea how you do anything work-related as a SAHM. Maybe during naps but I'm sure that you have 10 other things that you need to get done while those are going on!

  14. October 20, 2016 / 10:36 am

Exactly! My only problem is I can't (or don't want to) stay up late into the night because the computer screen wires me and I'm overstimulated when I try to go to bed. Ugh.

I know, right? In my defense, it's 95% family. I have a HUGE extended family. And yes, pretty much everything gets done during naps. Though she is pretty good at playing by herself. Thankfully.

Ha ha! Guuurl… I know this extra income is sorely needed for us with me staying home, but oy. It's so nice to just be lazy. Especially that morning nap for her. All I want to do is drink my coffee hot and read a book. Which I do sometimes and then the things pile up and.. yeah. Overwhelmed.
