Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend was gorgeous, and we spent most of it outside. I power-washed the patios and outdoor furniture while Chris worked in the yard and pulled weeds in the garden. Olivia frolicked and played with her bubbles. Pregnancy-wise, I felt amazing and pretty much back to normal. We had a BBQ with my sister and her boyfriend and a bonfire with s’mores.

Sunday was another beautiful day, so we headed to the zoo and had a picnic in the park.

It felt so good to feel, well, good. I’m still having some fatigue and feel lightheaded, especially if I’m out doing a lot.

This zoo trip was the first time we didn’t need to bring the stroller so that was nice. She did so well and loved the animals even if half of them were sleeping or MIA. I had some weird pain right below my C-section scar that lasted a few minutes while we were by the monkeys, but it went away a few minutes later. That evening we met my parents for pizza and they came back to our house for rhubarb custard pie that Chris made and had another bonfire.

Monday was cool, dreary, and rainy and I didn’t have any pictures. I also felt tired and nauseous again and spent most of the afternoon sleeping. I don’t know if I just got lucky those days or if I overdid it and my body had to recover, but it sucked.

Olivia was complaining Saturday of her left big toe hurting, and we thought at first she had injured it playing outside because she was wearing her Crocs. But Sunday morning, Chris thought it may be more of an ingrown toenail. We did a foot soak of Epsom salts and Tea Tree oil with some Thieves that night out at the bonfire (she thought that was pretty cool, along with a rare ten minutes playing puzzles on Chris’s phone to keep her distracted). It looked better by Monday, especially after Chris convinced her to let him clean it out because there was so much dirt in there despite a bath and two foot soaks. In fact, he then saw it didn’t look ingrown, and actually seemed to be more of a hangnail, but along the side of her nail bed. I got her to cooperate by letting her squeeze my hand as hard as she could and pretending she was hurting me. She laughed hysterically, so I’m seriously thinking there’s a dark side to her.

I’m continuing with the foot soaks, so we’ll see if it goes away on its own. There doesn’t seem to be a lot there anymore, but there are some redness and puffiness still, though way better than it was. Kids and their feet. The girl is a horrible nail biter.

Beautiful pictures of some gorgeous memories… and so glad you were feeling well. May the good days get better and more frequent and the bad ones disappear altogether!

Thank you! I’m so thankful for those two days getting to enjoy them outside.
