Forgive the photography. Forgive the fact that I didn’t save the information on my January fix and that I didn’t really show my jeans. I thought about doing Stitch Fix reviews on my blog but then forgot about it and now these reviews are really going to suck, but I promise to do better with the third fix.
I signed up for Stitch Fix because I can’t dress myself. And when I do find things I like I always end up wondering, if I had someone else dress me would I be expanding my horizons more? I fully didn’t—and don’t—expect to love everything I get in my boxes. In fact, I don’t really want to because I can’t afford to buy it all, even with the 25% off if I were to keep all five items.
But I thought if I could love and purchase one thing in every box, I will have been satisfied with that. I mean, I work from home, have two kids, and when I do go out it’s usually to stuff my face with a friend, or get out on a date with Chris. So the goal is to have some more options when it comes to getting out in public (with makeup!) And for $20 a box, where that money can go towards a purchase, I’m all for it.
January Fix Review
I was stoked to get the first box. It was a horribly overcast day and Chris was working from home, so I tried on everything in the office with Olivia bouncing off the walls, and the photos were horrible because Chris can’t take a full-length photo of me to save his life, so I was stuck with bathroom selfies (complete with water spots). And since I didn’t keep the information sheet for this post, I’ll just show you what I tried on.
Striped long sleeve top ($42) and dark blue skinny jeans ($68)
This was the first shirt I tried on, along with the pair of dark denim skinny jeans.
See? I told you, bad photography. Anyway, the jeans were way too small on me (My bad for giving the wrong measurement on my style profile), so yeah, I have sort of the muffin top going on, but let’s be honest, I have a muffin top no matter what I do lately. Needless to say the jeans I didn’t keep, but for $68 anyway…I just wasn’t feeling it.
The shirt I liked a lot. It was a bit loose on me, so it probably should have been a size smaller, but at first glance, this was totally something I’d buy for myself. And it was super soft. Olivia liked rubbing her head on it.
I debated over and over if I should keep it, but for $42, it didn’t blow me away.
Verdict: Returned and returned
Red sleeveless top with zipper (around $38)
When I pulled this out, I immediately wasn’t digging the zipper. Perhaps if I didn’t have mom boobs I could entice Chris with it, but alas, no.
I’m not a huge fan of shorter tops in general (and haven’t since 2007) so I wasn’t feeling it. And when I put it on…eh. No.
Verdict: Returned
3/4 length navy blue top (about $40)
This one—I don’t know. I pulled it out thinking maybe it was one of those tops that looked better once I tried it on.
I don’t know. It wasn’t completely hideous on me. And I am a fan of 3/4 length tops. And the looseness of the shirt sort of hid the muffin top. But I wasn’t sold. Plus, I didn’t really like the busy pattern.
Verdict: Returned
41 Hawthorn Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan ($38)
Look I actually have the name of this one! I love a good cardigan. In fact, my favorite is a grey knit one I bought when Aeropostale was going out of business in the mall, so I got it super cheap.
I also am a fan of this color. I know olive may be a fad now for fall/summer, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to buy all the things when I see it. As soon as I pulled it out, I knew I wanted to keep it.
I was having a lot of trouble trying to get a photo in the bathroom, because the color looked all weird. But here I am with my photobomber.
Here is the photo from the site:
I love this cardigan. I ended up wearing it a few days later on our date, but of course, I don’t have a photo of me in it. But I love everything about this one. It’s soft. It fits me perfectly without showing any weird fat rolls. It’s perfect.
Verdict: Kept
February Fix Review
I ended up having another box ship to me earlier than a month because I was hoping to find something to wear for our Valentine’s date next weekend. It was much brighter outside than it was last month, but I still ended up shooting these photos in the bathroom. But hey! at least I have names of these items this time.
French Grey Murphy Brushed Knit Dress ($48)
I honestly liked this dress when I pulled it out of the box. I loved the 3/4 length sleeves and I’m a huge burgundy fan. But then I tried it on and I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t really like it until I texted the photo to a friend.
The color looks really washed out here. It’s much more colorful in real life but you get the idea. I look like I’m going to go to church in it. I don’t know. Does it look like a church lady’s dress? It’s probably the floral print. It has to be. It fit great. I honestly loved it, but I can’t do this print. And I wish I could have, because I weirdly love this dress even though OMG I look like a church lady.
Verdict: Returned
Brooks High Rise Frayed Hem Skinny Jean ($88)Ā
Honestly, even if I liked these jeans, I’m just not the person to spend that kind of money on them. I’m cheap, I know. And the good news is I actually got my size, so I could button them. And they felt really good on me (as far as non-maternity jeans go). But they had this weird fringe on the hems that just looked weird. Maybe I have no sense of style after all. But, no. I didn’t get a photo of them (I suck at Stitch Fix reviews, apparently), but here’s one from the internet.
Verdict: Returned
41 Hawthorn Denver Front Twist Brushed Knit Top ($38)
However, this shirt is amazing. It’s super soft and cozy and I love the length and it was something that when I pulled it out of the box I knew I’d like it.
It’s pretty basic, but I love the twist at the bottom. It’s totally my style. I even did a poll on IG Stories and everyone overall agreed with me.
Verdict: Kept
Pinque Axelia Textured Crew Neck Pullover ($42)
Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of this on me, (the baby was screeching at this point) and while I did like it (I love the olive color after all), my first thought was, I probably don’t need another sweater being that spring is around the corner.
Once I tried it on, I realized the length was shorter than I usually would like and it kind of made my chest look really big. For the price, I wasn’t sold.
Verdict: Returned
Kaileigh Azaria Knit Dress ($48)
I was stoked to get two dresses in this fix because I definitely wanted to expand my wardrobe in this area. At first I thought I wouldn’t like this one because I thought the sleeves would be more fall-of-the-shoulder, but I actually really like it. In fact, I love the overall style of this dress with the sleeves and where it falls. But I was going back and forth over the pattern. Was it too busy? It did look pretty good on me. But I don’t know. Maybe it’s too busy. Over and over I debated back and forth, so much that I tried it on again the next day.
For $48, it might have been worth it. I would have paid that price in the store for a dress. But then I thought it made my already wide child-bearing hips even wider with how it was cut around the waist. And no one wants that. So…
Verdict: Returned
Hue Super Opaque Control Top Tights ($15)
This was an extra I had ordered to be sent with my box. I don’t have any tights and I have a dress I’m wearing for my dad’s birthday next weekend where I’ll need them. Enter Stitch Fix! I loved how they looked and felt taking them out of the packaging. But then I went to try them on. And when I stretched the waist, I thought, huh, now how do you think I’m going to get this on?
And sure enough, I pulled them on, and a few inches above my knees, they stopped. They were so tight they started cutting off my circulation in the time it took to grab my phone to take a photo.
Now that I look closer at this photo I realize this totally looks like a picture of my butt and I guess if you didn’t see that before, you do now. It’s not my butt. Though it looks like it. Ahem. Moving on.
These were size 3 and they were supposed to fit 5’2″-6′ and 165-200 lbs, a range I’m well in. And…just no. These may have fit around my four-year-old’s waist, but it ain’t coming close to mine. It had to have been made wrong. In addition to definitely returning these, I ended up contacting Stitch Fix to tell them about this. I mean, if they were slightly too small, I would have returned them to get the next size up. But clearly this was way too small. So do I exchange them for the next size, or would those still be too small? The verdict is still out on that one, and I’ll see what Stitch Fix’s customer service comes back with. But obviously…
Verdict: Returned
So there you go. One item from each box kept. But because I kept them, my $20 styling fees each went toward the prices. I got the cardigan for $18 and the grey tie top for FREE! Why? Because Chris signed up for a box using my referral code and we each got a $25 credit. That, along with my $20 styling fee went toward it and I still have a $7 credit left over for next month’s box. Happy dance!
I don’t have any photos from his box (Yes, they have Stitch Fix for men!), but this was the black sweater he ended up keeping.
Fairlane & Sons Caiden Slim Button Mockneck Sweater ($49)
Such a good sport, this guy. And since he got a $25 dollar credit for signing up with my link, it only ended up costing him $24!
If you’ve never tried it, consider giving Stitch Fix a try. I know this review shows a lot of things I obviously didn’t keep, but those I did, I adore. And it makes it worth it to try on the clothes in the comfort of your own home for three days. I would be stoked beyond all reason if you signed up through this link. I do get a $25 credit for everyone who signs up, which makes it possible for me to splurge on some new clothes when I otherwise wouldn’t have the budget to.
If you do end up getting a box, let me know how it’s going for you!
The best part is, once you are signed up you get your own referral link—which means you can start earning $25 credits for yourself as well!
And if that doesn’t convince you, for an extremely limited time—like in the next 24 hours—if you sign up through my link you and I BOTH get $100 in credit. That’s right, not just $25, but $100. So do it. Dooooo it. I already got a friend signed up, and both of us are looking forward to some shopping.
Iām gonna try it after I have these babies. I hate shopping and need all the help I can get too. I hope you keep trying for a dress and get one you love in the next box

I feel you. And honestly, I’m looking forward to even buying some real bras again. I haven’t used one that didn’t snap off in over four years. š
I have gone to a bra store in Maple Grove that does custom fittings that kind of changed my whole take on buying a bra. Worth it for the experience and I tell you, the bras for amazing. https://www.allurefits.com/Default.asp
ok I thought the flower dress looked really nice on you!! Not church lady. Love the cardigan!! I have received a pair of jeans with the fringe on the bottom and loved them! I just have to trust that what they send is actually what’s in style since I have no time to shop or notice what is in style! haha My box should be coming next week. I left a note that my birthday was coming up so maybe I will get something good! haha

Ugh. I don’t know. I couldn’t get over it. I wish I like it. Maybe I’ll get something in another pattern and I would like that better. And the fringe…I’m sure it’s just that I don’t know what the latest fashion is because I’ve been seeing the fringe everywhere! I’m so excited for you! I hope you get something good and happy early birthday!
I signed up for a box using your link, and I ended up keeping 4 out of 5 items! I’m thrilled, and it only cost me $64!!! Enjoy shopping š
