OK, true confession. These crochet posts are all about me. I realize 90% of you reading this probably have no interest and the other 10% might think Hey! Crochet stuff! Well my fellow hookers, this one is for you. And me. Mostly me.
I’ve become completely obsessed with all things crochet. I have gobs of yarn for fantastic projects. I finished gifts for both my sisters and my mom for Christmas and I really want to post them here, but can’t for obvious reasons. But I’m so excited about them and really proud how they came out.
Olivia has been wanting a more full-sized blanket and she picked out this variegated sparkle yarn awhile back. I wasn’t going to have enough for a blanket, so I threw in some white, bright pink, and bright orange for the loudest toddler-sized blanket you’ll ever see. Thankfully, she loves it.
I also made an infinity scarf for myself, which I really like, even if I’m rethinking my color choices. Still, I wear it out in public, so it works.
Since Olivia is in love with all things purple, I made her her own infinity scarf and tried out a new stitch that looks like little windows. I can’t even tell you how adorable she looks in it, and she now knows how to twist it to put it on all by herself. Obsessed, I tell you. And she’s a good sport about it too. We talked about the importance of keeping our necks warm now that the weather is cooling and she’s good about wearing it. I told her I was going to make us matching purple winter scarves and I think I’m way more excited about it than she is.
I also made Emelia a blanket which she loves to chew on and try and rip out stitches.
These color pockets were from a pattern that I thought was totally doable. I made them for the girls to play with to match up colored popsicle sticks with the color pocket. Olivia thinks they’re awesome and Emelia wants to just eat the sticks.
I just made another infinity scarf that was by far the most challenging for me given how loose the stitches were. I’m struggling with written patterns, but this one seemed OK to read. It was hard, I ripped it out and restarted three or four different times, and the result wasn’t perfect. But I loved the yarn I picked out for this and it really is fantastic to wear. I want to make some in other colors.
I also started a huge full-sized blanket for myself, that’s going to take a while to complete. But I love the colors and I can’t wait until it’s done. Doing all this has been so good for my anxiety and keeping my hands busy in the evenings after the kids go to bed. It’s more challenging because I’m left-handed, so I need to watch left-handed videos. I can watch the right-handed ones as long as I’m already familiar with a stitch because I’m not good at mirroring on the other side. I never realized how my left-handedness was such as handicap in crochet.
Beautiful work! Love the different stitches and Olivia looks lovely in her purple infinity scarf. Love the little comparisons elated to girls’ ages. Ellie would try and rip out stitches, too!

Thank you! Yes, the girl just doesn’t appreciate art.
Thank you! The perfect anti-stress post. Actually any and every post from you helps me deal with my stress … in fact you could write several times a day and still be helping. But clearly your stress is being improved with crochet AND YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB with it. WOW! Productive and also quite beautiful. Thank you.

I feel like this has been such a good stress reliever. Now if I could only have more time in the day to do it. 🙂 Thank you!

🙂 She loves her baby!
You do such beautiful work! Love the diversity in stitches, colors, and projects. That purple infinity scarf is amazing!
Author
Lots of diversity over here. Actually, that’s called too much yarn and not enough projects. I do love her scarf.
I am still amazed by your new talent here! My sisters and I always loved our blankets that were made like this by our grandmother. Any thoughts on taking requests and selling them???
Author
Oh my gosh. I’m definitely NOT talented enough to sell, BUT I’m totally making you something and sending it to you.
Olivia’s scarf is beautiful! I may need to take this up

She’s allllllll about purple anything right now, but I think this was the perfect yarn for her “Purple scarf!!!!!” She wants fingerless gloves in purple, and I’m like, dude, every outdoor gear you own is purple. Let’s get some diversity.
