A year of crochet

Apparently, I got busy and was supposed to post an update on some of my crochet projects back in January and now here we are, almost a year later. So instead I consolidated many of the projects I did this year into one post.

For last Christmas, I made my mom a table runner with some Christmas-colored coasters, and a scarf.

For my sisters, I made a blanket wrap and a color block lap blanket.

A bit later, I ventured into shawls. I made my aunt, mom, and grandma one, and then a gold-colored one for myself which I love using in my office. I’ve made two more throughout the year.

I loved making coffee cup cozies, hats for the girls (I mean, seriously, look how adorable they look in them!), a big squishy blanket for my mom for her birthday, a drawstring pouch, and a variety of scrunchies. I also made a market bag this summer which I gave to my sister. I wanted to make another for myself because they are so fun but never got around to it. Olivia wanted me to make a sleeping bag for her Minnie lovie, so I free-handed one.

Earlier in the spring, I made this gorgeous double-stranded blanket for Olivia. She loved it.

I also made my first amigurumi, which of course was a snake plant to fit my love of succulents.

I made a blanket set for a friend’s girls, a few baby blankets for friends and my nephew, a rainbow blanket for Emelia, and a few others I gifted to people.

I ended up donating the bottom middle blanket to the family that Emelia’s daycare was sponsoring and I hope they like the bright colors. I also donated them the scarf and hat set above, which looks so pretty.

I made the blanket below for my acupuncturist as a thank you for all she’s done in the last few years for me.

Crochet has become a passion. Next year I want to learn Tunisian crochet which is kind of a cross between crochet and knitting. I also want to learn how to knit. I started trying to teach myself a few days ago, but wow. It’s going to be a learning curve. Which I know how hard it was to teach myself crochet, but being that it’s so natural now, it’s hard to go back to something that’s so difficult to do.

Wow! These are so beautiful (and where does a busy mum find the time to be so fabulously creative?). Best wishes for much crocheting joy in 2022

The kids are down by 7:30 and I crochet the rest of the night without doing anything else productive. 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful holiday week!
