24 weeks with baby #3: Viability

It’s viability week and I didn’t even take a photo. But this week Pokemon hit viability, so he now has a great chance of surviving outside my body.

I’m supposed to bring my diabetes testing supplies from when I was pregnant with Emelia to my next appointment, but all I seem to have is the meter, which is fine. My insurance was pretty good at covering it last time, so I’m expecting the same with this pregnancy.

I can’t say I’m looking forward to testing, but the bright side is that according to my A1c from week 12, I’m not coming into this pregnancy diabetic. And the lower-carb diet I ate with Emelia only made me healthier.

I realized the other night while playing on the floor with Emelia while Chris and Olivia were at karate, that 1) my days on the floor are numbered, and 2) I can’t even lean over that well anymore.

I had therapy this week after about a 3-week hiatus, which is the longest I’ve gone since being pregnant. She thought I was doing well, that I was having more acceptance about the future of this pregnancy and what could come of it. Planning for a premature birth and NICU stay is just my reality. And now I’ve gotten to the point where, for the most part, I’m not fighting it, but rather just accepting it if and when it comes. I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.

Olivia had a special dinner at her school earlier this week where she invited my mom and me. Her class has been practicing life skills and they served us punch, salads, ravioli, and dessert. She took our order and made sure we always had a drink in our cup. It was adorable.

It was a nice distraction because it’s been a hard work week. And I don’t say that often now that I’m self-employed, but there were a number of demanding clients all converging together this week and it ended in me breaking down in the bathroom sobbing. I felt better after, as well as after talking some things through with my writing coach. But ugh. I’m glad things are settling down.

Chris and I did a Parents Night Out that the girls’ school puts on a few times a year. We drop them off at 5:00 pm, pick them back up at 7:00 pm, and in between is date night. The girls had a bounce house, did a craft, watched a movie, and ate popcorn while Chris and I headed to a new-to-us restaurant close by.

I don’t even have any good photos of that night, except for the cheese fries app we shared. Chris got a Reuben and I got a burger and we both had salads. Then, we went to a coffee shop until it was time to get the kids. It went lightning fast, but it was so much fun. We hadn’t had a date night since I got pregnant, so we were long overdue.
