For the first time since Emelia came, this holiday felt more normal. Emelia got her first Build-a-Bear named Blueberry with some outfits, and Olivia got another bear named, well, Bear Bear with an Encanto dress and Ahsoka costume, which they were both excited about.
They went on a mad-dash Easter egg hunt in the basement and Emelia did pretty good looking for eggs. Her sister was more than willing to find the ones with an “E” on them for her, and we had to continuously remind her to let Emelia find her own eggs.
Olivia just gets so excited over things like this and we need to tell her to take a breath and slow down a little.
They did love their bears, more than I thought they would.
We had a busy day planned. First, we went to my sister-in-law’s for lunch and had ham, au gratin potatoes, and tapioca which was amazing. Olivia and Emelia had so much fun running around with their three little girl cousins. Emelia, who started out shy and cowering between our legs was soon racing around with them, trying to keep up.
Then we immediately drove to my sister’s for an early dinner. Emelia, considering she didn’t have a nap all day, did really well. They ended up coming home with another two Easter baskets each. We ate even more food of ham and cheese sliders, apps, and various other potluck dishes.
And we got a family photo, which doesn’t happen too often.
The kids went to bed around nine that night, two hours after they usually do, but both of them sure enough, popped awake right on schedule to make it to school the next morning. One of their favorite gifts was a llama/unicorn stuffed animal, and both of them wanted to sleep with them.
Oh, and Olivia is wearing a dress which never happens anymore!
I have to admit, during the lockdowns when Chris and I just stayed home for the holidays, there was something I really liked about being at home just the four of us and nowhere to go. But it was so nice to see especially Chris’s family and have the girls play with their cousins.
