Christmas 2021

Christmas this year was crazy, wild, and lacking in nice family pictures. And that’s okay.

We decorated gingerbread houses! Emelia loved participating and was more than happy to place lots of sweet treats all over the house.

They opened presents from my best friend a week before Christmas. Olivia got unicorn headphones that light up, and Emelia got a giant popper and some little baby sunglasses.

It was so sweet seeing the kids all playing with each other.

We got to Zoom with Santa again. He remembered both of them from last year and Olivia was fascinated that he could tell her little things about her life, like who her friends were and how she is doing in school. Emelia (kind of) talked, but she mostly stared at the screen shyly.

Christmas 2021

Per our usual tradition, we opened presents Christmas Eve day. Both girls had been up twice each overnight from excitement and possibly teething (the baby, not Olivia). And then they were up for the day at 6:15.

Olivia has been getting into Pokemon because of the neighbor boy, so I got her some Pokeballs (is that how you say it?) and she said it was her best present EVER. Emelia got lots of books and loved this little race car track thing. She’s been into cause and effect so likes to watch little cars go down ramps.

That evening we went to my sister-in-law’s for dinner and the girls got to run around with their three cousins and open more presents.

Christmas day brought stocking gifts from Santa (Mama got yarn!).

We went to my sister’s for brunch and then literally spent the entire day opening presents. With 13 people opening presents one at a time…? We may need to talk to our mom about letting people just open presents all at once. It was 3:00 by the time we left. Emelia had pinkeye and we luckily nabbed an appointment the next day, but ugh. It was a little rough.

Now we’re loaded down with presents and the kids are ecstatic to play with everything. It was another good Christmas and nice to be able to celebrate with our families again.
