So I’m a little cheap. You knew that right? I love the quality of Nordstrom, but I don’t buy a ton from there. I kept an amazing boyfriend shirt from my last trunk, the best scarf I ever owned, and three items from my very first trunk.
For this one, I request as many sale items as possible, and some long sleeve shirts and joggers. Unfortunately, while they sent me four pairs of bottoms, they were all medium and I’m definitely more of a large. One pair fit really well, but the others were just way too small. I’m not sure why I even received these since my style profile clearly doesn’t state that. I also received a necklace, and I forgot to take a photo, but eh. It wasn’t that spectacular. Still, there were some great things I got in this trunk.
So let’s dive in, shall we? And if you decide to try it, use my link and you’ll get a $50 credit when you make your first purchase!
TRUNK CLUB REVIEW
Trunk Club is Nordstrom’s online styling service and it works similarly to other clothing subscription boxes. I actually like this concept because you know you’re getting high-quality clothes from Nordstrom. You fill out a style profile and if you’re looking for any particular items of clothing. Then you’re assigned a stylist and (here’s the best part) they will send you a preview of what they picked out before it sends to you. That way you can look over everything and remove anything you don’t like or is too expensive and can even replace them with other items. Just like other subscriptions, you keep what you like and mail back what you don’t. Another awesome perk is that I can have UPS come and pick up the box from my front door when I check out versus having to drive it to the post office. Definitely important right now when I’m trying to avoid going anywhere.
There’s a $25 styling fee that gets applied to whatever you decide to keep in the box. Apparently, Nordstrom credit cardholders get this fee waived.
On to the clothes!
Zella Mindful Studio T-shirt ($39)
This definitely had the feel of a workout/yoga top. It was really soft and I like that there was some give to it. It’s hard to see in the photo (If you haven’t realized by now I have terrible lighting in my house and the afternoon I chose to take these photos it was wicked dark out. So apologies for the photo quality.) but the top is kind of a very pale blue. I really wish it was on sale, but still, I decided to go ahead and keep it.
Verdict: Kept
Caslon Funnel Neck Pullover ($29 $13.04)
This top is on the thinner side, and the neckline is this sort of turtleneck-not-turtleneck. They call it a funnel neck so I guess that’s a pretty accurate description. I don’t have white shirts, (OK I have one) because of kids, but this was a great price. I don’t know. I ended up not keeping it, and now at the time of writing this post a few days later, I probably should have just kept it since it was only $13.
Verdict: Returned
Nordstrom Print Tassel Duster ($35)
This one…looked a lot better in the package. I mean, I like the idea of it. I love the tassels on the bottom. But two things. I think someone other than me would look good in it. And I feel like had I bought this, it would have probably annoyed me from slipping off my shoulders. It was pretty loose. I have a kimono top and while I love it, it tends to slip off me fairly easily.
Verdict: Returned
BP. Classic Cozy Lounge Pants ($39)
Oh my gosh, these pants. Barring the fact that I have total mom bod, these pants are ALLLL about comfort and offer very little in the going-out-in-public department. They’re probably the softest lounge pants I’ve ever worn. I would have gladly paid $40 for them. They don’t flatter me AT ALL, and wearing them out in the snow without boots would be a mess on the bottom, but wow. These were amazing. I almost kept them. Almost. But I needed to stick to a set amount, and there were just other things I wanted more.
Verdict: In the end…returned
CeCe Print Tie Sleeve Blouse ($69 $23.28)
I tried this on and then needed to carry the baby back out of my office for the 458th time. I was wearing this, and Olivia looked up at me as I came out.
“Wow, Mom that looks cute on you!”
Oh Lord I love this girl. The problem I had with this top is it has that unforgiving fabric that feels like it is way too tight on me. Also, I’m not a fan of short tops. I did like the sleeves that tied and actually liked the pattern, and the sale price was good, but it was a definite no for me.
Verdict: Returned
Madewell Leopard Recycled Faux Fur Quilted Scuff Slippers ($39.50)
I’m kind of digging leopard print right now. So I was really excited to see these in my trunk. They were probably more than I would pay for slippers, but they were comfortable. In the end, I just decided the, what, four pairs of slippers I currently have, are enough.
Verdict: Returned
Zella Animal Print Neck Gaiter ($35)
This was a fun one. I wouldn’t wear it as a face covering, since it seemed like it would be harder to breathe through this particular fabric, but I thought this would be fabulous for wearing outside on cold walks to put it over my face. I couldn’t actually try it on because of how it was tagged (which is understandable), so I was hesitant to buy one for $35 when I don’t know how it would work for me. So I had to put it back. But I was loving that pink stripe in there!
Verdict: Returned
L.L.Bean Hunter’s Zip Top Tote (54.95)
This was actually the first thing I pulled out of the box. It was way bigger than it looked in the wrapping, and clearly, it’s too gigantic for daily use, but it’s the perfect size for an overnight bag. And I loved the camo print. I only wish there were other smaller pockets in the bag itself, but otherwise, I knew this was a keeper.
Verdict: Kept
Topshop Windowpane Check Scarf ($35 $17.58)
Oh my gosh, I love scarves. Love them. And this one was soft. And had a great print. I loved the fringe. I loved the price. Gah. I almost kept it. I knew with keeping the top and tote, I really shouldn’t keep the scarf too. I have some pretty great ones already, so this was hard to put back.
Verdict: Ugh. Returned. Probably should have kept.
So I have an adorable tote bag and a long sleeve shirt. Hey, I call that a win. I would have kept the scarf and lounge pants if I could. And of course I wish I could have tried on the rest of the joggers, especially because there was one in a color I really liked. Oh well.

Thank you. I always enjoy your fashion trunk posts. Interesting to see what is sent and how it fits. Makes it so much clearer to me that size and fit are totally different from one company manufacturing to another. I used to think it was just MY Body that was the problem. Now watching you I see clearly it is not just me; the problem is fit is based on bodies and size is an arbitary number grabbed out of nowhere and sewn up differently from garment style to garment style even within a same brand for women’s clothing.
Cheers!
