Well, this month has been interesting. The first half was pretty OK. We celebrated my niece turning one as well as my nephew (of my BFF of 23 years) and I’m so glad we got to do this before the isolation hit. I was chugging along with picking up work, going to appointments, and planning outings with friends. Then around just before St. Patrick’s Day, everything started changing and I (like the rest of the world) need to figure out how to adapt to a new normal for a while. Here’s what our March brought us.
I AM CURRENTLY…
Talking way too much about coronavirus with Chris. It’s hard to think about much else. I’m looking forward to my Norwex supplies coming in (not due to the virus, but because I’ll feel better getting rid of my kitchen sponges). Also, since paper towels are hard to find right now, the kitchen clothes I bought will be great for saving some paper. Olivia and I both received our Stich Fix boxes and I’m getting another here in a week. It’s selfishly disappointing that the spring dresses I bought are pretty much useless right now being that Chris and I can’t have a date in the foreseeable future. I’m also looking forward to starting up on Optavia again here in the next week or two. The weight I lost after having Emelia is creeping back on.
CHRIS IS CURRENTLY…
Going nuts working from home. Not with us (I’m assuming) but because there have been so many problems at work due to systems failing and his coworkers and such all at home. He hasn’t been running at all the last two weeks since he’s putting in 9-10 hour days. His employer sent us a gift basket of treats as a thank you for the huge adjustment.
OLIVIA IS CURRENTLY…
A bit out of sorts in having her routine disrupted. She’s now home all day with us when she was at daycare and preschool. She did do some Frozen and Trolls kids yoga on YouTube and loved that. She has been feisty when I’ve tried to do some learning activities with her which I know is her way of dealing with stress, but she’s been a bit difficult to deal with lately. She continues to be amazing with her little sister and wants to kiss her head and feet despite my constant harping to stop since she has a cold/cough. I’m 90% sure this is all it is, but you can’t take any chances right now. I think she’s picking up on the fact that something is out of sorts, so I know we need to be more careful when we talk around her.
EMELIA IS CURRENTLY…
Trying sort of to roll over. Her PT has been canceled for her torticollis, and we’re on our own with stretches, for the month. I don’t want a set back since we’ve been working so hard with PT and the chiropractor on this. She loves to feel her daddy’s beard and squeal like a raptor. She’s getting more and more neck control for sitting up and loves to nurse all.night.long.
THE GOOD
- I’m getting more done around the house than I ever have.
- We celebrated Olivia’s transferversary.
- I’ve been reconnecting with people I haven’t talked with in a while and doing more FaceTime and Skype.
- We had Pancheros delivered and enjoyed a burrito and their chips and queso and who doesn’t love that?
- The two new content writing clients I’ve picked up have loved my work.
- I’m finally getting my office downstairs more organized.
- I made $350 at the kids’ consignment sale this spring.
- I’ve been reading a bit more than I have been since Emelia was born.
THE BAD
- Well, we’re stuck at home for an indeterminate period of time. People are dying from coronavirus. I think that’s all that needs to be said about that.
- I think I’m eating too many Girl Scout cookies.
- I think I’m eating too much period.
- All of this isn’t good for my emotional eating problem.
ON MY MIND
- How to improve my mental health during this period.
- Setting up a routine for me and the kids during the workweek (I’m not very good at this stuff).
- The health of my family. It’s something I’m trying to distract myself from because it can be all-consuming.
- Why I can’t seem to read any other piece of news that isn’t virus-related.
- How this kid looks better in a jumper than I do.

Kids in jumpers always look adorable. I personally wouldn’t want to wear a jumper right now b/c first off, I would probably look terrible in one, but also you have to basically take off your entire outfit to pee….and I pee too much for that. Plus, you know, COVID 19 and all there is no reason to wear a jumper.
