Hola friends!
I am off bed rest, have showered (you’re welcome) and am spending my time relaxing and trying desperately to sustain life inside me. These things tend to conflict at times. Today, 3 days post-3-day transfer, my little blastocyst is hopefully hatching out of its little shell.
Bedrest got boring quickly. On the first day of transfer, I had a lot of phone calls and texts and a visit from the bestie, my friend of 17 years, Mel. I got a little care package from her. Actually let me take a moment to brag. Please tell me you still love me after my conceitedness.
My Mel got me this great little bag of goodies, complete with a pink monkey and an owl lip gloss.
My dear friend Meagan, who has been one of my greatest supports through this, gave me this little care package before my retrieval, complete with Baby Ruth bars and “baby dust.”
And finally, my fabulous Facebook group made up of some pretty amazing women, in all chapters of infertility, had a little gift exchange. My partner sent me this package the day after transfer.
So… I’m kind of a big deal.
End bragging.
Anywho, the second day of bed rest was spent watching movies, reading, eating. Gah. Yesterday, I ended my official bed rest at noon and took it easy for the rest of the day. I wasn’t strictly laying down all the time. The second morning, I Googled “bed rest after embryo transfer” and all these links came up saying that it was an old wives’ tale, unnecessary, and a crock. Damn. I think the point is to relax. So relax I did, occasionally sitting up and walking around at times. I’m like that.
My bulk package of pregnancy tests from Amazon is scheduled to arrive Friday the 5th. Invaluable infertile tip #29: Buy tests in bulk. Seriously. I can buy a three-pack of pregnancy tests at Target for like $16.00. I bought a pack of 50 test strips from Amazon for $18.00. Boo-yah.
It’s too early right now to start testing. The embryo, or Little Blasty, as I like to fondly call him, is still hopefully scoping out some prime real estate, but should be starting to attach himself to my uterus by tomorrow.
I had some bomb-ass BLTs last night, so hopefully, he will decide to stick around a bit longer.
I will be praying that Blasto is all snuggled in and ready for the next nine months! Good thoughts are coming your way.
What sweet gifts you have received! Not sure if I have asked yet, but when do you plan on starting the crazy testing process? LOL… I will totally be stalking you!
You have the sweetest friends!
Fingers crossed 🙂
I hope that Blasty is hunkering down for the long haul!
So great! I love your outlook! Little Blasty will stick around… who doesn't love bacon?!?!
Your friends are amazing! What great care packages!!
Wishing you the absolute best!!!
Woo hoo!! Go Blasty!! Stick around and party like it's the 4th of July. Funny, we've used Blasty as a nickname too. keep on being pregnant!!
Well you pretty much ARE a big deal! I love reading your journey… I start my IVF process next month. Worried about all the shots, but you are giving me strength to get through it! Hang in there Blasty! Have a great 4th of July!
Thank you dear!
What great friends you have! So sweet.
And yes, test strips from Amazon = amazing. We certainly spend enough on everything else.
Hope Blasty finds a terrific home and stays put! Best wishes!!
You know, I haven't decided if I want to post it on my blog or just in the group. It's hard because a lot of my family and close friends read this, and I know I can no longer have the element of surprise, but I don't know if I want to post the test strips on here…. The conundrums of a public blog. 🙂
Ha ha I hope so!
It was great bacon! From the Farmer's Market. Drool….
Thanks so much!
Ha ha! Hopefully he'll stick around long enough to come up with a new nickname!
I know. Usually I only take one pg test from the TI or IUI cycles. But I see a lot of other women doing them, and I am hoping for some good news from them!
Thanks so much for your kind words! Do you have a blog and I can't find it? I would love to follow you! I was terrified of the shots too, but it's amazing how used to them you get. How they become a part of your routine and I never thought I would say that. I wish you the absolute best and hope your IVF cycle works for you! Happy 4th of July!
Hatch baby, hatch! My clinic didn't tell me to be on bed rest, but I think taking it easy for as long as you can is good advice. My clinic told me not to do anything that would raise my body temp for an extended amount of time…well, we're in the middle of a heat wave, so walking to the bathroom raised my temp!
Those amazon tests have been my LIFESAVER! Word from the wise, don't throw them away if you think they're negative. The early ones took a while to show a line and I ended up digging old ones out of the trash to see when I actually had my first positive. Not my finest moment 🙂
I am thinking good implantation thoughts for you! Bacon would certainly get me to stick around. I hope you have some good time off! Happy 4th!
too sweet, love that!
You have such great friends. Lucky girl!
AW you are SUCH a big deal! So awesome!
Settle in little blasty! We want to meet you in 9ish months!
It is good to be loved!!! I hope little Blasty is stretching his legs and has an eye on a cozy spot… Can't wait to see your poas pictures! 🙂
have fun with the pee sticks
Heck yeah, bacon is worth sticking around for. Oh yeah, and the fact that he has awesome parents. <3
Isn't it great? 🙂
I do have some pretty great friends. 🙂
Aww thanks so much! I love this comment!
Me too. I hope I get to see some double lines…
Oh I definitely will!
Ha ha! Maybe bacon is the key for successful implantation???
You have amazing friends. And of course you're a big deal!!! Hoping for some good news soon…
Your friends are so awesome! What great little momentos for you! Hoping you get that BFP soon!! Saying some prayers:)
Mmmmm bacon…that's a pretty damn good incentive. Love your post-transfer gift packages. Your friends are so sweet!
How cool that you got those packages! What sweet friends!
Also, BLTs are amazing. A restaurant by my house makes a parmesan-crusted one that's just delish.
